Arlan (LANRIV) Rivera
is a contemporary abstract artist in Perth WA.

Lanriv in his Studio.

Growing up as a kid in the Philippines, I have always loved sketching and drawing. And in high school being encouraged by our local art teacher, I started to work on watercolors - joining every plein air competition available in our town - even winning First prizes in watercolor division. But in university I took architecture as my major and later on became my profession as a Licensed Architect. But still, watercolor was my choice for doing perspective renderings. I had then my first experience to have my art exhibited on Shell National Art Competition. That painting still hangs on my parents house. Soon, life happens and work progressed but my desire to paint was always there.

After decades of hiatus and now living in Western Australia, I am currently pursuing my passion for visual arts which has always been my first love. Having worked in architecture as a career, art has always been part of what I do. The experience I have gained from producing freehand sketches to technical drawings, and color selection to 3d rendering, have helped developed my own signature style.

My main body of work now can be classified as non-objective abstracts and impressionist landscapes. I still use watercolor and have added acrylics to my arsenal. I love to work on watercolor paper and canvas ranging from A4 size to bigger canvas. I do want my art to show emotions using playful primary color palette, accompanied with strong brush strokes couple with textured backdrop. I am always conscious of composition that evokes structure, flowing line works and contrast of light and shadows. As an artist, I like to challenge myself by exploring different techniques, color palette and tools to enhance my ability to communicate through my artworks.

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope we’ll enjoy the art journey together.
